I think the very first step is *understanding or acknowledging the fact that you have a bad habit.
*And then personally wanting a change
*Consciously working on changing that particular bad habit because habits are formed over time and so the can be changed overtime as well.
*Very importantly, if you are a religious person, pray about it as well.
*And see yourself as better and not always think the worse about yourself.
*Finally always keep a positive attitude.
