A lot of people think bad of feminism because of because of what they think of it, some feel it’s just a bunch of women fighting to be equal to the men, and factually, that’s not true because there’s much more to feminism. What’s your take on feminism?

I am not a Woman but the Truth is that Feminism is all about equalisation and the right of a woman compared to men. It could be more but not less…

Mmm I think you are right in a way, but again I think feminism is a fight for equity rather than equality. And just like you said it focusses more on the right of women more than men because the female folks are the ones who have been on the receiving end for a long time. Take for instance a time when women were not allowed to write (to be writers), or when they were not allowed to vote, or when women were not allowed to go to school, among others..  I think feminism has helped correct some of these mentality and so is not as bad as people look at it. However it also still fights for the rights of the male folks as well.

Bukky… Its Okay to be a Feminist but Trust me. The African norms and values will always give the “men” some edge over women. Its something that can never be taken away.

Well perhaps, but I actually think the African women are kinda used to the men being in charge and they aren’t contesting that, like  the African feminist doesn’t actually have a problem with that, all they are asking for, if I am correct, is to stop being treated like they have half or no brain at all compared to the men or in simple terms, they shouldn’t be treated like second class citizens.

The woman wants to be seen as a human being not judged or looked at just as her gender.

Okay take for instance a woman that is a mechanic being judged just because of her gender, if she was a man, no one would have a problem with it.

Or a man being judged cos he is passionate about ‘cooking’

I just think it’s a mentality we need to outgrow 🤷🏼‍♀️
